Smarter, more life

The smart outlet extender is perfect for resetting devices such as cable modems and Wi-Fi routers as you don't have to unplug the device, unplug it, count to 30 and plug it back in, just tap a button on the app or ask your voice assistant (Google Assistant) to switch it on!

There are many options to choose from and after searching for Wi-Fi controlled socket options, I chose this particular device. The smart plug extender is a very worthwhile purchase.

It is roughly the same price as a similar product with single or dual control sockets and I have installed the link app (Alexa) for my smart lighting.

The Alexa app is easy to use and easy to connect to your Google Home app. If you are using Google Home and have linked devices, there is no need to install the Alexa app to maintain functionality. I removed it from my phone to save space and only installed it on my tablet for maintenance.

Overall, the smart outlet functions very well. It only had one functional issue: my flat lost power for about 8 hours and when the power came back on I had to reconfigure the device using the Alexa app. I had to do the same for several of my smart bulbs, so it has nothing to do with the manufacturer or the device itself and seems to be common for IoT devices.

I was concerned that the socket extender would turn off its socket when the Wi-Fi disconnected, but this didn't happen at all. My other concern about the general nature of the socket extender is how it handles constant heavy loads, such as desktop computers and monitors, but I've had absolutely no functional problems with it! I mainly use it to reset my printer when it starts up and controls the desk lamp, and use its surge protection feature for my desktop and monitor.
